Hirschel (Zvi) Nothmann
| Notes Hirsch Nothmann's second wife is named variously as "Eva Waschmann" and "Eva Waschner" in the "Nothmann Chronicle", and as Ida Waschner in bielschowsky.nl. The "Nothmann Chronicle" places Hirsch in the Myslowitz branch of the family, and details relating to his son Siegfried in cbj.jhi.pl confirm that Hirsch and his wife both died in Myslowitz. JRI-Poland records the marriage on 03/09/1860 of Hirschel Nothmann of Myslowitz aged 31 years and Eva Waschner of Berun aged 30 years, daughter of Isaac. Having studied the original document I believe that the JRI-Poland transcription contains a misreading of his age: it is actually "51"; this gives a birth date between September 1808 and September 1809, which would be a better fit with other sources. Mara Thorson gives his date of birth as 14.02.1807. Felix Auerbach's 1905 Silbergliet - Nothmann tree gives his date of birth as 1807. I found a gravestone of a Hirschel Nothmann alongside that of Eva Nothmann geb. Wachsner in Myslowice cemetery. According to his gravestone, Hirschel died on 19 Elul 5641 (13.09.1881) in his 74th year (that is, 73 years old), pointing to a birth date between September 1807 and September 1808. The inscription on Eva's original gravestone refers to her husband as Zvi HaCohen Nothmann, confirming his priestly ancestry; the same name and title appears on his daughter Caecilie's gravestone. Mara Thorson also gives Hirshel's Hebrew name as Zwi. Hirschel's gravestone in Myslowitz cemetery next to that of Eva geb.
