Although he was born and died in Langendorf, he lived for some years in Beuthen, moving there some time after his father's death (1847), and still living there when his mother died (1861).



MT gives his date of birth as 10/12/1821; Nothmann Family Collection, 1978 gives 18/12/1821; the latter may have been his brith.

His son-in-law Wilhelm Kohn reported his death and gave his age as 57 years 5 months 10 days, so born 10/09/1821; despite the precision of his age, Wilhelm's mathematics may have been flawed.

MT gives his date of death as 21/03/1879; Nothmann Family Collection, 1978 gives 21/02/1879. His gravestone says he died on 25 Shevat 5639 (18/02/1879). His death certificate says 21/02/1879.
