Notes

From the "Nothmann Chronicle":

"Isaak managed a banking business in Gleiwitz, took over the presidency of the trade department of the newly created Industrial Council of the Gleiwitz district in 1852, and was later awarded the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle for outstanding service. His sons emigrated in the 1860s to America, where they achieved success and honour."

His gravestone in Gleiwitz's old Jewish cemetery gives his date of birth as either "7 Elul 5563" or "7 Elul 5567" followed by "(1805)"; however, these dates equate to 25 August 1803 and 10 September 1807. In order to be born in 1805, the year of his birth would have to be 5565: 7 Elul equates to 1 September 1805. His gravestone gives his date of death as 17 Adar 5620, which equates to 11 March 1860 and agrees with the death record and the registrar's announcement; both of which give his age as 55 years, so he was born 1804-05.
