Meyer Staub
| Notes Buried in Gleiwitz ul. Na Piasku cemetery, plot 1080. Registration of his grain trading business Der Oberschlesische Wanderer, Jg. 35, No. 20, 20 May 1862, page 2 Gravestone in Gleiwitz ul. Na Piasku cemetery naming his father as David The Staub-Cohn family tree from DSW, a grandson of Kathe Mueller geb. Staub says that Meyer and Fanny had 5 daughters (un-named), sons Simon and Isidor, plus other un-named sons. Mara Thorson names only Henriette, Simon and Sophie as their children. A transcription of Gleiwitz ul. Poniatowskiego cemetery records list three people buried there whose father was Meir Staub: - Rosalie (Reisel) Staub born (03.08.1855 - 11.02.1922) - David Staub born (02.01.1856 - 16.10.1921) m. Regina (Rebeka bat Simon) Rosenberger (12.09.1861 - 24.03.1931) - Adolf Staub born (08.04.1856 - 28.05.1942) m. Fanny Simon (14.05.1860 - 28.05.1942). The date of birth given for David is confirmed by his gravestone. If David and Rosalie are siblings (i.e. the Meir Staub named as each one's father was the same person - and I haven't found any other Staubs of his generation in Gleiwitz at that time), Rosalie's date of birth - 5 months before David's birth - must be doubted. Adolf's date of birth is definitely wrong: his residence card gives his date of birth as 08.04.1858 and a newspaper notice of his 80th birthday confirms this. For more on this see Adolf's page.
