Named as Menachem on son Loebel's gravestone and as Mendel (a diminutive of Menachem) in the record of Loebel's birth in Loslau; both sources give the same date of birth for Loebel, so there is little doubt that they relate to the same person.

JRI-Poland transcriptions of birth records from Loslau from the same era give the following pairings of parents' names:

• Marcus Brauer and Babette (a mis-transcription of Babeth, see Sabath's page) Blumenthal (1832)
• Marcus Brauer and Babette Blumenfeld (1833)
• Mendel Brauer and Rebekka (a mis-transcription of Babetha, see Loebel's page) Blumenthal (1835)
• Mendel Brauer and Babette Blumenthal (1845)

It seems likely that all of these refer to the same couple, Marcus being a German cognate of the Hebrew Menachem, of which Mendel is a diminutive.
