The birth certificate cited here is a copy of the original (indicated by the statement near the bottom "Die Uebereinstimmung mit dem Hauptregister beglaubigt") and it incorrectly ascribes a feminine name - Martha - to a "Kind maennlich Geschlechts" - a child of the male gender. I am indebted to ML for correcting the information presented here by reference to first-hand genealogical notes held by the family in which the child born to Johanna Masur geb. Goldschmidt on 14/03/1876 is named as Martin.

Martin was an eye doctor, and the family spent some time in Gleiwitz

Martin and Adele emigrated from Germany before the war and subsequently moved from Uruguay to the USA in June 1941. Their sons, Henri and Franz, are known from Adele's Petition for Naturalization in the USA.
