Herbert, who was living with his father in Berlin at the time of the 1939 census, emigrated to the USA via Portugal in May 1941. In the list of arrivals he names one Simon Braginsky of New Jersey as his future brother-in-law, meaning he must have had a sister who is unknown to me.
