Nothmann Family Collection, 1978 mentions a Ruth Buettel born in Glogau as the first of Rudolf's two wives. The 1939 census of Breslau lists a Ruth Nothmann born in Glogau on 04.11.1910 at Goethestrasse 9 with Rudolf's parents, Moritz and Amanda. The Ruth in the census may be a younger child of Moritz and Amanda and her absence from the Breslau synagogue community address list (ca 1930), which lists Moritz and Amanda and several of their chiuldren, may be explained by her being just too young to be a registered member of the synagogue community. However, I have found nothing to connect Moritz and Amanda with Glogau; it appears that they moved from Kattowitz to Breslau between the births of Erna (1898) and Kurt (1901). I believe it is more likely that she is Rudolf's wife. Rudolf emigrated to Lima via New York in December 1938, giving his wife Ruth's address as Breslau Augustastrasse 19; so it is perfectly reasonable that in April 1939 Ruth was living with her parents-in-law. The census transcription does not give a maiden name for Ruth, but this is also true for Amanda, so the absence of a maiden name does not preclude the possibility that Ruth, like Amanda, is a Nothmann by marriage.
