Selma's death certificate describes him as a medical doctor.

A testimonial by his niece gives his date of birth as 24.10.1872 and identifies his parents as "Sigmund" and "Lina". The testimonial also says that he was a medical doctor in Beuthen; His children's birth certificates agree with this.

In the 1939 census of [Beuthen] a Martin Nothmann born in Kattowitz on 25.10.1871 is listed at Gustav-Freytag-Str. 11a. I assume this is the same person, notwithstanding the slight difference in date of birth to that given by his niece.
