At the time of the 1939 census Johanna was living in Beuthen at Virchowstrasse 1a; Max is not mentioned in the source. Johanna's niece Marianne Tworoger, is listed at this address as well as at her parents' address.

According to a Yad Vashem testimonial by her neice, Johanna perished in the Holocaust.
