Simon appears twice in the Pless family register. In the first record he is listed with his parents and nine siblings; in the second he is listed with his first wife, Rosel. His entry in the first record has been crossed out and an cross-reference added to the page on which the second record occurs; both records give the same date of birth.

The second entry records Simon's marriage to Rosel in 1847. This is among the last entries in the Jewish community's register as state registration was introduced in this year.
