Paul was transported from Breslau to Kowno on 25/11/1941 where he was murdered upon arrival. A Rita Apt geb. Bannas born in Pleschen on 1901/06/26 was on the same transport and met the same fate; their Yad Vashem records have consecutive numbers. In the 1939 census Rita and Paul were both living in Breslau at Lehmgrubenstrasse 43. These facts make it very likely that they were husband and wife. Rita is listed in the Breslau synagogue community address list (ca 1930) at Kirschallee 16 with her presumed brother Kurt and presumed widowed mother Cilly geb. Mittwoch, so it is likely that Paul and Rita married in the mid-1930s.
