In 1909 the marriage of Emily Hughes to John Sistern was registered in the Ecclesall Bierlow district of Sheffield. The proximity of the birth and marriage, as well the use of her previous surname as Eric's and Cecil's middle name point to these being the same person.

An Emily Sistern, died aged 58 years in December 1935 (so born 1876-77), is buried in Gorton Cemetery, Manchester.
