Richard Ludwig Apt

A February 1938 passenger list for a sailing from Bremen to New York describes Richard as a widow, and mentions a stepson Fritz Jacobs in Berlin (his late wife's son by her previous marriage) and a daughter Hilde in New York City. In August 1938 Richard and Hildegarde sailed from Liverpool, [England] to Quebec, Canada, again having stayed with "friend" Fritz Jacobs in Berlin Listed in the 1939 census of Berlin, Charlottenburg at Württembergallee 28; no other obvious family members are listed at this address. Richard emigrated to the Netherlands in March 1938. He was interned in Westerbork transit camp on 08.04.1943 and then deported on 01.02.1944 to Bergen-Belsen camp where he died.
