Notes

Susannah is described as a widow with the surname Wells when she married in 1866. Marriage records show that a Susannah Wrightson married in Sunderland in Q2 1863, as did a John Wells, George Smurthwaite and Lydia Hopkirk. The 1871 census shows George Smurthwaite and his wife Lydia living in Handel Street, Bishopwearmouth, so it is fair to assume that Susannah Wrightson married John Wells.
