In the 1939 census of Berlin Lilly, her husband Hermann, his mother Else and Else's brother Karl are listed at Pragerstrasse 14. In April 1941 Herman and Lilly emigrated to the USA via Lisbon, Portugal, with financial assistance from Hermann's brother Karl. Lilly's US Declaration of Intention dated September 1941 states that she does not know where Hermann resides. Herman's US registration card reveals that he was living with Karl.
