Max lived in the Netherlands from 1925 to 1932.

Max, Margaretha and Walter (recently divorced) are listed in the 1939 census of Berlin at Windscheidstrasse 32. Max died in Berlin from heart disease; Margaretha was deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp two months later. Walter survived the Shoah and was listed in a 1947 list of Jews in Berlin, and subsequently emigrated to the US.
